Updates

Where to start, I've obviously been a bit lax but between kiting and work this has taken a back seat. Bought and sold a few kites recently. Aqquired some race kites to play with and finding the, to be a pleasure to fly. T Also picked up some bigger kites too, my favourite being a mk4 Blade 6.5 which is a great bit of kit. Had quite a few low wind sessions over the last couple of months and I've become pretty competent in them conditions now. Had to learn to loop the kite in the buggy to win speed and keep the kite moving and I've got pretty good at it now and they translate to high wind kiting pretty well too. Downturns are becoming my preferred turning method which involves turning the kite under itself rather than going up and over. Do it right and ya can have a huge pendulum effect as ya get whipped around the turn. Alternatively by turning the buggy slightly earlier before downturning you can keep the kite nicely powered up with hardly and pull leaving the kite in a great position to sweep through the power. Al the practice with downturns are going to come in helpfull at some point. We're going to be attempting a tandem buggy ride with both of us flying a kite and the only way to turn without wrapping lines if downturns. Had my first major obe recently too, leaving me with a mild concussion. Flying a 6m rage when the wind started to pick up and I was debating changing down a size. Just as I was turning the buggy a huge gust hit and pulled me 20 odd foot horizontally out of the buggy to land on me head and neck. Instant headache but I controlled the kite and changed down a size. I've been hesitant to fly my razors (racekites) as they've got a bit of a reputation of being dangerous but last Sunday I decided to fly the 2.5 in anger for the first time. What a buzz. Such a responsive kite and a pleasure to fly. Slowing down took a bit more work than usual as the kite would keep pulling me at speed even in a slide but I got the hang of it pretty quick and was happily blasting up and down the beach at an easy 40mph.maxed out at 44.2 but coulda gone faster if it wasn't for the landboarder infestation. Got to fly the 4.5 razor for a cheeky evening session last Night and again really enjoyed myself. A few new initiates have turned up in the form of Jay and Craig. Both well and truly hooked from the get go. Biggest respect has got to go to craig who hadn't flown a kite 3 weeks ago and is now belting around the beach at 30mph And looking like he's been doing it for months. 5 more weeks till me and Nobby take to the high seas for our trip to westward Ho to meet some of the Yorkshire kite mafia for a long weekend of booze food and buggys. :D gonna be a great trip even if the wind doesnt make an appearance. Looking forward to letting my car stretch it's legs n the motorways too. Gonna try and update more regularly coz I'm sure I've missed stuff out. New landboard arrives soon. Time to have another go.
